Some of you know we have felt
called and directed by God to adopt a “fatherless” child into
our family.
Her name is Lima
and she is 11 years old from Chuvashia, Russia. She has special needs.
It has been suggested that she may have Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome. We had the pleasure of hosting her in Michigan this
past March. She is a wonderful child and will fit into our
family perfectly. What many of you may not know, is that
another little girl has captured our heart as well. Xenia,
whom we will re-name Rebekah, is a 9 year old little girl from
Chuvashia, Russia. She is also suspected to have Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome. She is coming in July to Missouri for 10 days. We
should be able to host her here in Tulsa! So many of you will
get to meet her!
After adopting Sarah this
last August, we felt we would wait a few years before adopting
again, but after an email from a friend, things changed. Lima
was in a group of orphans from Russia that came over on a trip
to Tulsa with
The Russian
Lighthouse Project.
We found out about
her after she left back to Russia. God pulled at our hearts
and I knew we needed to pursue this. Lloyd was not convinced,
but did agree to go to a meeting put on by Lighthouse. I came
out of the meeting overwhelmed and sure this could not happen.
Lloyd came out feeling like it was supposed to. After much
prayer and the Holy Spirit’s conviction, we knew Lima was
meant to be our daughter. Since that decision to follow God,
we have seen miracle after miracle and the whole process is
being knit together by the Lord.
Another little girl was
brought to our attention. After a week of prayer, we felt God
wanted to add her to our family as
well.
God desires for orphans of
all nations to be loved, cared for and adopted into Christian
families – ultimately so they can become saved, and be adopted into
His eternal family through Jesus Christ! |

Pure religion and undefiled
before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and
widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the
world. James 1:27
Did you know it is estimated less than 10% of
all orphan children are adopted into evangelical Christian families?
According to current
estimates, if only 10% more Christians in
America would
adopt, it would be equivalent to providing homes for all the orphans
in Eastern Europe (1.5 million), Latin America (400,000), and the
US
foster care system
(150,000).
We estimate for both girls, our total cost for adoption
fees, document preparation, home study, airfare, travel, attorney
fees, etc. to be $60,000 - that’s certainly money we don’t have, but
we know God is faithful and is leading us to trust Him. By God’s grace we’ve been
able to pay the initial $23000.
Honestly, it’s a little difficult
(because of our pride), to make our needs known to the Body of
Christ around us, but we also know it’s very Biblical to do so. We appreciate your
friendship very much and would like you to pray & consider
helping us in our adoption.
There are many ways you can help:
1. Prayer – Please pray God would tenderly care
for Lima and Rebekah in Russia and protect them until we are able to
bring them home; that God would prepare our family for the upcoming
changes; and that God will give us wisdom, discernment, and insight
as we raise Lima and Rebekah to know Jesus Christ. We would also like prayers
for the difficulties in the language barrier. The girls do not speak
much English and we are trying to learn Russia. We would also like
prayer for July 3rd through the 13th when we will be hosting Rebekah here in
our home. We will go and pick her up from Rolla, Mo and then take
her back, so we would appreciate prayer for safe
trips.
2. Financial support -
Will you please consider
making a tax-deductible donation to help us pay the remaining
adoption expenses, to bring Lima and Rebekah home? There are 3 ways
you can donate. For more information, you can see the left side of
this page.
